on the job: alcorn state university

This fall, I had the opportunity to travel to Mississippi for a two-day shoot at Alcorn State University. Alcorn State University was the first black land grant college established in the United States – its deep roots go all the way back to 1871.

The first day we had beautiful, sunny fall weather, though the second brought overcast skies and dense fog for a bit. (So much fog, actually, that I never was able to see the Mississippi river even though I drove right over it!) Spending two full days on location provided a wonderful variety of lighting and backdrops, resulting in a diverse collection of campus photos. While on campus, there was no shortage of programs and student life to document. We hopped from the business school, to the tennis courts, agricultural courses in the chicken coop, and hands-on-experience at the TV and radio studios. It was so nice to travel outside of my usual stomping grounds for this project. I got to dive in and tell the story of their community and challenge myself in a fresh setting.

Check out our photos from this branding shoot and reach out if you’re ready to get your 2025 shoot on the calendar!
